Intervention of the speech-language pathologists in the Cri-du-Chat Syndrome: case report

Resumo

Objetivo:  apresentar aspectos clínicos, diagnóstico e evolução de um caso com síndrome Cri-DuChat em acompanhamento fonoaudiológico.

Métodos:  relato de caso - a paciente possuía dois anos de idade e foi encaminhada para tratamento fonoaudiológico por apresentar atraso de linguagem e fala. Observamos início do uso da comunicação oral com significativo aumento de vocabulário, evolução da brincadeira simbólica, melhora do contato social.

Resultados:  o processo terapêutico envolveu melhora da compreensão da linguagem oral, melhora do contato social, orientação à família, promoção do início do uso de gestos e palavras com fim comunicativo, estimulação da brincadeira simbólica.

Conclusão:  a terapia fonoaudiológica parece ser eficaz no tratamento de casos com síndrome Cri-Du-Chat, no que diz respeito às habilidades comunicativas e na interação social.

Abstract

Purpose:  to present some of the clinical features, diagnosis and development of a case of the cridu-chat syndrome with a speech-language accompaniment.

Methods:  case report - the patient was two years old and was conducted to the speech-language pathologist treatment because the fact of presenting speech and language disorders. It was observed the starting of the use of oral communication with a significant enlargement of vocabulary, evolution of the symbolic entertainment, improvement in the social skills.

Results:  the therapeutic process evolved improvement of the social contact, improvement of the oral language comprehension, orientation to the family, promotion of the staring of the use of gestures and isolated words with a communicative aim, stimulation of the symbolic entertainment.

Conclusion:  the speech-language pathologist treatment is, apparently, efficacious in the cri-du-chat syndrome, specifically concerning to the communicative skills and in the social interaction.
