Abstract

Purpose: to accomplish the speech-language findings on pain congenital insensitivity with anhydrosis, considering the self-mutilating behavior and the speech-language therapy.

Methods: clinical case report based on anamnesis data and physical examination of a three-years-old child with CIPA.

Results: the self-mutilating behavior present in the patient and the dental treatment that she was submitted to, caused the absence of several structures, as teeth, part of the tongue and of fingers, what interfered in the feeding process, mainly the chewing.

Conclusion: the speech-language therapy acted in the feeding rehabilitation and of the stomatognathic functions, showing itself efficient in the improvement of the process, with positive repercussions for the general state of health of the patient.
