Assessment of the effectiveness of vestibular rehabilitation in young adults with motion sickness symptoms

Resumo
Objetivo: verificar a eficácia da reabilitação vestibular em adultos jovens com sintomas de cinetose.
Métodos: estudo quantitativo, experimental, realizado com amostra de conveniência composta por indivíduos entre 18 e 40 anos com sintomas de cinetose. Os participantes foram avaliados por meio de questionários e por avaliação do equilíbrio corporal utilizando o Teste de Organização Sensorial, por meio da Posturografia Dinâmica Foam-Laser. Foi aplicado um programa de reabilitação vestibular baseado no protocolo abreviado de Cawthorne e Cooksey. A análise dos dados incluiu a comparação do desempenho pré e pós-intervenção.
Resultados: a maioria dos participantes da amostra relatou início dos sintomas ainda na infância. O enjoo/vômito foi o sintoma mais prevalente. Como desencadeador dos sintomas, o carro foi o meio de transporte mais citado. A maioria relatou sintomas ao se exporem a brinquedos em parques de diversão. Houve redução significativa na pesquisa com a Escala Visual Analógica. À Posturografia, em relação aos sistemas avaliados, houve aumento significativo no desempenho dos sistemas somatossensorial e vestibular.
Conclusão: verificou-se que a reabilitação vestibular é eficaz em adultos jovens que apresentavam sintomas de cinetose.
