Abstract

Purpose: to develop an instructional material on the implications of the stomatognathic system in speech sound production, identify evidence of content validity, and evaluate the appearance of the material in a virtual environment.

Methods: a descriptive study conducted in three phases: 1) Planning and development of the material based on a literature review; 2) Content validation by four expert speech-language therapists using the Likert scale and Content Validation Index, with revisions according to feedback; 3) Implementation of the material in a Virtual Learning Environment and evaluation of its appearance by the same specialists.

Results: the material consisted of 9 modules covering typical and altered sound production, types of phonetic disorders, and the impact of stomatognathic system alterations. After two rounds of evaluation, all 19 final topics reached a Content Validation Index of 1.0. The virtual material’s appearance was rated as satisfactory or excellent by at least 75% of the evaluators in most categories.

Conclusion: the developed material presents evidence of content and appearance validity. Its availability in a virtual environment facilitates remote access and represents a promising resource for the training of undergraduate students of Speech-Language Pathology.
